The Absolute Sweetest Ole Soul That Ever Walked The Earth.
Love him more than life itself!

Well friends, I would like to share with you what I have learned about Ancient Oriental Philosophies and Cultural diets. The medicinal qualities of food and how they have the ability to stimulate the healthy balance within in your body type, and healing itself. How it has been working for centuries and today, why many people just like you and I are sharing in not just for ourselves, but for our pets as well. Most important, understanding, “that no single diet is suitable for everyone.” We’re very unique, inside and out.

In Ancient Chinese Medicine, according to Gabriel Cousens, M.D. “Conscious Eating,” (p. 167-172), food may be described for its shape, yin, or yang energy. What we know to achieve our “Chi.” Chi being the "life force" that flows through all plants, animals and human beings. Though polar opposites they do not exist without each other. And that even your personality can be viewed as having either yin (cool) or yang (hot) characteristics.  This is not surprising when it comes to some dogs I know. Their personalities, coupled with discriminating taste for food and their Zen Palettes. Do you or your pet have yang attributes that come with a hot & fiery personality? Are you strong and willful? Outgoing, thus very centered and focused. Are you or your pet a little Yin? Maybe cool as a cucumber. Quiet and easy going with a spiritual side that reflects on life. The food you choose, and thrive on may be relative to your yin or yang characteristics. How you balance this is very important. For example, a constitutionally hot yang person may be balanced by cooler yin foods. Learning to create balance without going too far, to one or another degree is the key here. Dr. Cousens also says the following categories of foods are listed in the order of the most yin to the most yang: chemical additives, processed foods, fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, beans, grains, dairy, fish, poultry, pork, beef, eggs, miso, sea salt or commercial table salt. Recognizing what foods stimulate your chi, may be beneficial to your overall health. Just look at Blue! He’s Living proof!

Again, according to Gabriel Cousens, M.D. “Conscious Eating,” (pg.87-148). The Ayurvedic Tridosha System is particularly useful in helping maintain awareness of nutrition as the interaction between the forces of food and ones own dynamic forces. These forces are known as doshas: “vata,” “pitta,” and “kappa.” These doshas are also what help to manifest in humans, the five elements of oriental health philosophies (creation) are what resembles, earth, water, fire, air, and ether. Personalizing these doshas, yours and your pets diet can be as simple as considering the changing of the seasons, their immediate environment along with a few things about the constitution of the pet. For instance, is Fido physical? Have a healthy weight, bone muscle, tissue, and joint health. Good digestion & bowel function. Does Fido prefer the cool weather? Is Fido friendly & outgoing? Does he or she wear a healthy coat, have large, clear eyes and pearly white teeth. Have a big appetite. Long, tall, lean, and strong. Is he calm, confidant, stoic, and disease free? Upon the recommendation of one’s holistic veterinarian, “what makes up ones dosha tendency (ever changing), those characteristics, imagery, food taste, body language & demeanor are some of what may be what makes up the ingredients that should be in your pets true, holistic meals and snacks. I have come to know folks and cook for their pets that feed on this principal. And weather their healthy or not, they get meals and treats that are palette specific and skillfully customized to meet their specific needs. Like:

  • Healing Diet For Dogs
  • Canine Allergy Diet
  • Canine Arthritis Diet
  • Canine Cancer Diet
  • Canine Kidney failure
  • Canine Heart Diets
  • Canine Pancreatitis
  • Feline Diets Alike……..

As you can see, in both Chinese Medicine and Ancient Indian “Ayurveda,” meaning “science of daily living,” people use specific techniques to discover the uniqueness of themselves and their pets’ bio-individuality as well as phycophysiological constitution. To then, identify what foods and herbs are known for their energy to rebalance and or heal their bodies. This knowledge is what empowers them too recognize their body’s imbalances, as well as predominant – mind-body type, and know what the best food choices are for themselves and their pets. That once you understand this, you can be your holistic nutritionist. Give up some would be fads, a few myths, a lot of confusion, and with confidence: “make the best food choice for yourself and your pet.”

By learning to recognize these techniques & your pets individual physiological, biological and nutritional needs will make the difference in their optimal health and well being. Share with me in the ancient traditions that harnesses the individuality of your companion in an effort to promote progressive veterinary care and preventive maintenance that compliments traditional western medicine with Natural Pet Care and Holistic Nutrition, “taking the road less traveled to the vet.”
